Photoshop Elements Applied 1: Applied Digital Darkroom Course by Mike MacDonald Photography LEVEL: Basic Digital Image Processing and Digital Darkroom Techniques

This is an applied Photoshop Elements class that puts into action the many tools learned in the prerequisite class Photoshop Elements Essentials going back to version 7 of Adobe Photoshop Elements. Your instructor will use Adobe Photoshop Elements 9 in the classroom to instruct you, though you can use versions 9 or later.

During this 2-session course, you bring in images that they need help with and your instructor will dramatically improve them right before your eyes. This way, you learn how to solve specific problems on specific pictures that have been most challenging to you. Each image is saved and returned to the you with all the new pixel layers, adjustment layers, and masks in place so you can study the steps and practice them as part of your homework.

Most of the applications you will see demonstrated are illustrated in a step-by-step manner in the required textbook (the same book used in the Photoshop Elements Essentials class), which provides you with an easy-to-follow reference guide anytime you need it. The digital darkroom class uses Photoshop Elements 9 software.  (Gift Cards for this class are available.)

COURSE AGENDA

All instruction sessions take place in a classroom in Mike's home studio in Downers Grove, Illinois. Each session will last approximately 2 to 2.5 hours, during which time and your instructor will apply the knowledge learned in the previous class to dramatically improve images that students bring in.
(Note: Selections and layer masks can often take a very long time to do perfectly. Therefore, during any demonstration, your instructor will create a rough mask while giving critical tips on how it may be perfected.)

For your homework, you will be to replicate the steps performed on your image(s) during the demonstration.

This photography class will be limited to 6 to 10 students, depending on the experience level of the participants. So, please register quickly to insure a spot.
